About Me — Shahvir Magol
Introducing Myself and my motivations to be a writer
My name is Shahvir — In my late 20's; A banker by profession and a writer by passion. Born & brought up in London, United Kingdom. Having come up through the traditional system of targeting top grades at school, a university degree and now having worked in the corporate world for 6 years, I have always aspired to make a difference in whatever I do. Doing the bare minimum never sat with me — I was driven by a sense of wider purpose to improve myself and the world or lives of people around me.
At work today, I am driven by the pursuit of mastery in my field, the development of my skillset and closing deals; That is what has turned a banking job into a fulfilling career. People have asked whether I work to live or live to work; my answer has been the latter. The money, whilst important, has never been the primary motivating factor for me in a career specifically — Indeed, I have given up what could have been a more lucrative career in M&A Advisory to pursue an alternative path in corporate lending that I found to be more aligned to my values & goals. Nearly two years on after making that decision, I am still on a steep learning curve, take pride in my work and always look forward to my next project or contribution.
